Exciting changes are coming! Please note that the facility will not close during construction. We want to make the process as seamless as possible and continue to provide great service to you. There will be a glitch or two along the way however, the small inconveniences that we will experience will be worth it at the end! Take a look at what will happen.
Phase I—Gymnasium to Wellness Center Conversion
We will transform the gym into an expanded Wellness Center, bringing cardio and strength equipment into one are that will include additional stretching and coaching areas, new equipment (some will feature personal TV’s and iPod connections!)
Phase II—Child Watch, Locker Rooms, Updates and Upgrades
The former cardio room will be re-created into a self-contained area for us to provide babysitting and activities for Family member’s children (ages 6 weeks-10 years) while they exercise, attend classes, or just read in the lobby! This phase also includes upgrades to locker rooms, an expanded cycle studio and free weight area
We will be posting weekly photo updates on Facebook, so become a fan of the YMCA at the Athenaeum so you can see what's happening. There is also a poster located in the lobby of the building that will be updated with information of changes as the come, as well. If you have questions please feel free to contact Karin Ogden, Executive Director, at kogden@indymca.org.
We're looking forward to the changes! Someone once said, "If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies." We're looking forward to unveiling a butterfly for you in the near future!
