Endurance SymposiumThe YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is hosting its 3rd Annual YMCA Endurance Symposium beginning at 8:00 a.m., March 13 at the Jordan YMCA, 8400 Westfield Blvd., Indianapolis. The goal of the symposium is to educate people of all backgrounds about how to increase their fitness level and maintain an active lifestyle.

The 2010 Keynote speaker is Sarah Reinertsen. She is recently known for her participation on the 10th season of the “Amazing Race” television show. Prior to the TV show she was known for being the first female with a prosthetic leg to complete the Hawaii Ironman. Sarah is an energetic speaker who will continue the tradition of engaging the audience members who attend the YMCA’s Endurance Symposium.

Special Features of the YMCA Endurance Symposium
We are bringing back all of the programs that you enjoyed from previous years; but with a few twists.

Vast Array of Breakout Sessions
Again there will be a great selection of breakouts sessions to choose from. This year, there will be a track for beginners and also for intermediate/experienced athletes. Additional sessions will also be scheduled that will not be in one of these two tracks.

Vendors
For 2010, vendors will be able to sell merchandise. Come and shop for some of the newest 2010 gear and deals.

Tell Me About…
While you are walking around the vendor fair, have your “Tell Me About…” card. Fill it with vendor signatures to be eligible for the door prizes.

BONUS: All registered attendees will receive a technical training shirt and lunch will be provided by Noodles & Co.

There are also a number of exciting new programs for the 2010 event.

Lower Registration Fee – The registration fee for YMCA members is $25; $30 for non-YMCA members. That is a $15-$20 savings over last year!

Bring a Friend & Win a Prize! – If you have attended one of the first two YMCA Endurance Symposiums, you can earn a bonus prize. If you recruit a first time attendee, you will receive a YMCA Endurance Symposium running cap when you register In addition, the new recruit will also receive a YMCA Endurance Symposium rope bag upon registering. Supplies are limited to the first 50 recruiters and new attendees. To claim your prizes, simply email the names of the recruiter and the new attendee to Doug Robinson.

Run the Symposium – This two-person relay race will kick-off the 2010 event at 7 a.m.! Each person of the team will run 3x1,000 meter loops for a total team distance of 6,000 meters. Each participant will receive a YMCA Endurance Symposium cold weather knit running hat. There is an additional $15 or $20 fee for participation in this run depending on YMCA membership.

Technique Assessment Program –During the Symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to be assessed in one of three sports. Knowledgeable professionals will take you through a basic 15-minute assessment, which will include a variety of drills in addition to suggestions about how to add some speed just by changing how you move. There is an additional $30 fee for participation and assessments are limited to 10 people per discipline.

Team Time Trial – Bring your bike shorts, shoes and power and get ready to rumble over at the Jordan YMCA MultiFit booth. Teams of three riders will ride in an all-out effort for five or 10 minutes on spin bikes. The three rider’s scores will be averaged to come up with a team score. NOTE: Weigh-ins will not be required. This program is free to all attendees, but securing a time slot to ride is encouraged. Email Dougwith the names of your team to secure a time slot.
