Toys for Tots – It Is Not Too Late to Donate

It is time for Urban Mission’s annual Toys for Tots program in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corp.  Each year a smile has been put on over 1200 children’s faces!  There is nothing like seeing the joy in a child’s eyes and the relief of parents who are doing all they can.

You too can be a blessing to a family this year.  At various YMCA Centers, toy donation boxes have been set-up to receive unwrapped toys.  Help fill a Center’s box with your toy donation.  Toy donation deadline is Tuesday, December 13th

If you need additional information please contact us at 269-6065.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

“Destined to Achieve” YMCA Achievers Teen Summit Conference in Cincinnati, OH

Recently a group of our Y-Achievers, attended the YMCA Achievers Teen Summit Conference in Cincinnati, OH. Students were able to participate in a college tour of University of Cincinnati, various workshops such as Resume Building, and simulations such as KNOWHOW2GO.
One of our students, Isaiah Horton, was chosen to participate in a presentation by Keynote Speaker, Hill Harper. This included an question and answer session which Isaiah Horton had to answer questions before his peers. Mr. Horton’s mother informed Urban Mission that “she is pleased that we take time to help improve her son in and out of school.”
In 2012 the Teen Summit Conference will take place here in Indianapolis!! Our students cannot wait.
