Intercollegiate in the News

Our Laurelwood summer camp was featured in a news story on Channel 8.  We are so proud to partner with the Indianapolis Housing Agency and the University of Indianapolis to make this program possible for the youth that live in the Laurelwood neighborhood.  Check it out by clicking here

Ready to make a positive impact in the lives of youth?

The Intercollegiate YMCA is gearing up to provide hundreds of youth living in public housing communities across Indianapolis with free after school programming.  We are looking for passionate and dedicated college students to work with youth at five different program sites during the 2016-17 school year.  Please email Ashleigh Coster at acoster@indymca.org if you are a college student that qualifies for the federal work study program.

We also need plenty of volunteers throughout the school year so please let us know if you are interested in volunteering your time!  We have worked with service learning classes from a variety of universities across Indianapolis as well as help individual students fulfill their volunteer hours.  Contact us today to learn more and get involved!

What is the Intercollegiate YMCA?

The Intercollegiate YMCA Center exists to serve college students in the Indianapolis area.  We work with six universities totaling over 18,000 students.  Our mission is to provide these students with experiences that will help them develop community awareness and responsibility as well as creating a well rounded world-conscious individual.  This is accomplished by providing a variety of meaningful service opportunities throughout Indianapolis and in international service projects.

Our major programs include Alternative Break Programs, Leadership Series and experiences, Community Outreach Programs (public housing communities), and monthly service projects.

The Intercollegiate Center gives the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis an opportunity to fulfill its mission on college campuses by providing civic engagement opportunities. We develop cause driven leaders while connecting campus to community. This university-based YMCA allows the branch to develop the future leaders of our community. Students develop leadership skills as well as explore career and volunteer opportunities for their future.

YMCA MISSION: to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
