Program Guides are coming!
Are you bummed about the end of summer? Don’t despair! That just means a new session of sports leagues, clubs, programs and Pilates are coming to a center near you! Watch your mailboxes during the week of August 18, and then come on in to get registered early.
2014 YMCA NATIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP VOLUNTEERS
Indianapolis is honored to be the host city for the 2014 & 2015 YMCA Swimming National Long Course Championships, and the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is proud to play a supporting role. Volunteer opportunities and activities throughout the day are available for ages 11 and up! This is a great opportunity to see future Olympic swimmers and young athletes!

Baxter earns grant from Johnson County Community Foundation
The Baxter YMCA recently received a $1,000 grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation, Inc. The money will be used to purchase supplies for the Y’s Diabetes Prevention Program and LiveSTRONG Program benefiting Johnson County residents enrolled these YMCA programs.
The Y currently offers programs to battle childhood obesity, diabetes prevention; as well as, offering services to cancer survivors through the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA exercise program. Johnson County Community Foundation funds will allow the Y to provide these programs to many more individuals through sliding scale fees and financial assistance.
First Merchants Charitable Foundation makes generous donation to Annual Campaign
The Baxter YMCA received a generous donation in the amount of $2,500 from First Merchants Charitable Foundation last month. Though sponsorships such as these, the Y is able to provide financial assistance to families and individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford to participate in enriching YMCA programs. Thank you First Merchants Charitable Foundation!
Mark your calendars for the 29th Annual Kiwanis Fish Fry
The Perry Township Kiwanis Club is hosting its annual FISH FRY on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19 from 11 am to 8 pm in the Baxter YMCA pavilion. Proceeds support south side projects for youth and senior citizens. Pre-sale tickets may be purchased for $7. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the fish fry for $8. Show off in the pool the synchro way!
The Baxter YMCA is excited to offer synchronized swimming. This will help you develop body control, agility, breath control, and endurance all while having fun and swimming to the music. Ages 6 through 17 are welcome. Register for Monday evening classes at the Member Services Desk.
Accelerated Rehab Screenings
Find your weakest link! Accelerated Rehab Physical Therapy will be here Tuesday, July 8th 8-11 AM and Thursday, July 24th 4-6 PM to perform functional movement screenings! Find out what you can do to improve your sports performance, or what you can do to simply improve your day to day living.
Need a challenge this summer? We’ve got one for you… a full Ironman! But don’t worry, you have a month to do it! Complete 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of running before the end of July and win a prize! Please register for the Ironman Challenge at the front desk!
