UNPLUG YOUR KIDS AT OVERNIGHT CAMP!

At the Flat Rock River YMCA Camp, children swap screen time for face time and go from texting to talking. The camp activities such as horseback riding, canoeing, archery and of course the zip line, are designed to put campers and counselors together in an environment where “real communication” happens. The Flat Rock River YMCA Camp is an overnight camp located just 45 minutes southeast of Indianapolis. For more information and to register, visit us at www.flatrockymca.org.

YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program

More than one in three adults have prediabetes (very likely to develop into diabetes within ten years without action), but few of those affected know they have this condition.  If you have prediabetes or are at risk, diabetes is NOT inevitable!  Meeting the goals of the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is proven to cut risk by more than half and is now available to many Seniors, African Americans, Latinos, and those with UnitedHealthcare insurance FREE!  Classes are forming at a YMCA location near you – call 713-8523 or e-mail PreventDiabetes@indymca.org for details.

Free Screenings

Did you know that nearly one-third of all Americans who have high blood pressure don’t know they have it? Hypertension is often associated with not having any symptoms; this is why it is so important to receive regular screenings and KNOW YOUR NUMBERS! St. Francis will be providing FREE blood pressure AND cholesterol screenings in the Wellness Center on Monday, May 6 from 5-7 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 7 from 9-11 a.m.

Summer Day Camp is almost here! Have you registered your camper yet? We offer a variety of preschool, traditional, sports, teen and enrichment camps for ages 3-15! Allow the YMCA to give your camper the ultimate Summer Day Camp experience that will create a lifetime of memories!

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

In 2008, the YMCA of the USA partnered with LIVESTRONG® to help cancer survivors begin the journey toward recovery with the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. Part of the Y’s commitment to strengthening community through healthy living, the program offers adults affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person-not the disease. The free, 12–week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease survivors back into fitness and help maintain a healthy weight. Read more…
