WHAT: The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is inviting high school teens to a citywide dance

WHEN: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 7 to 10 pm

WHERE: The NEW Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center, 725 N. Oriental Street, Indianapolis

DETAILS:

Teens in grades 9-12 who are members of the YMCA or participate in Y programs are invited to a citywide party from 7 to 10 pm on February 25 at the New Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center. Teens will have fun and enjoy music by Indy’s own, DJ B-Rad. The price of admission is $3 per person.

“The purpose of this dance is to give young people an opportunity to participate in a fun activity in a safe environment,” said Brandon Brown, Program Specialist, Urban Mission YMCA.

Many distractions compete for the attention of our youth today. It’s important that the messages they hear come from positive sources. All young people, regardless of background, face choices that can positively or negatively influence their lives. The Y is committed to programs for teens that offer character development, citizenship, leadership and service programs.

Those who attend will be required to adhere to all YMCA rules during the event. Teens may not leave the dance before 9:45 pm unless a parent is present for pick-up. In addition, for the safety of the teens, there will be no in and out privileges during this event.

Traditionally, YMCA Teen Nights are held at least once per month at each YMCA location on a Saturday evening.  During this time, our young people are able to participate in sports, games, food and fellowship. Periodically, the staff will offer drug prevention programming or invite guest speakers to educate and inform the teens about topics or situations for their age group.
